Culture for Resilience Forum 2024 will focus on participation and crowdsourcing of ideas
The programme of the Culture for Resilience Forum 2024 on 7-8 May in Jakobstad/Pietarsaari, Finland, is being finalized. The forum will offer a mix of keynote speakers, discussions, and mini hackathons with a strong emphasis on participation and crowdsourcing of ideas. Registration deadline for the forum is 15 April.
The Culture for Resilience Forum 2024, an event dedicated to exploring the role of culture in societal resilience and community strengthening, will focus on finding creative solutions to challenges that small and medium size cities are facing nowadays. How to consolidate different ethnic and language communities? How to transfer knowledge between generations? How to include young people in the local community? Those are some of the questions the forum will focus on under the guidance of experts in social resilience, placemaking, cultural planning, culture tech and participation.
The forum will be most relevant to municipalities of small and medium size cities in the Baltic Sea Region, professionals from the culture and creative industries (CCI) and researchers.
The participants of the forum will also have the opportunity to learn more about the BSR Cultural Pearls title, which recognizes outstanding culture-driven social resilience work of municipalities. This year the title was awarded to four cities – Jakobstad/Pietarsaari (Finland), Kiel (Germany), Rūjiena (Latvia) and Svendborg (Denmark). These cities have developed their Culture for Resilience Action plans and will organize a range of events in 2024, engaging their citizens. Municipalities interested in applying for the award for 2025 will be able to learn more about it from the current winners of the title. Next call for applications will be open on 2 April with the submission deadline 24 May.
